Well. Heh. So much for turning over a new leaf and posing regularly. In my defense, I’ve been insanely busy. But I really, really promise to use this thing –especially to communicate with those wondering about my fics.

For those of you who have been wondering why I dropped out of fandom for the past 3ish years: I had a liver failure. I won’t go into any more detail here –I don’t much like to talk about it—but let’s just say transplants have a rather long recovery time. But I am healthy(ish) again, thankfully, and plan on writing a lot more in the future.

On that note: My God! The fandoms have changed wildly since I was involved in them. I suppose it’s to be expected, really, but after putting my life on hold for a while, I’m always surprised at how fast things move.

At any rate, the fics have been updated, and a few new ones, posted. Something Worth Waiting For (which is finally done!), Date Match (which has been revamped), Nothing (which is a new fic –an angsty take on Alex’s past), and Need (which is the sequel to Nothing).

For those of you interested, I should also have an Action Man drabble page up eventually. (As I’ve written a mad amount of them.) Also; SSWF’s sequel should have its first chapter posted within the next month, and the Action Man AU fantasy fic also seems to be smelling of progress.

Whew!

Well hello to you too! (And with a greeting like that, how could I not feel welcome in the comm? :)) While I’m admittedly not new to the fandom, (I used to write under the pen name of Sadako) I’ve been terribly slow in realizing someone had brought the fandom to LJ! (Ah, well. At least I found my way there eventually.)

Just curious. No cats here.

I've been searching for the very rare and elusive Neverwhere fan-fiction. It's a skittish creature and isn't easily wooed. So, that means I'm tough outta luck in that area.

I'm new to the Neverwhere fandom, and I stumbled on your other (Older?) LiveJournal, Sadako. I saw this in your fiction updates thing:

A Neverwhere Novella: Told from the Marquis de Carabas’ point of view, as he develops an unhealthy obsession with a clumsy, brave, beautiful young Upworlder called Richard. Basically spans the whole novel. Heavy, NC-17 slash.

A Neverwhere Ficlet: The Marquis comes to collect his dues. NC-17, Richard/Marquis de Carabas.

I was so very excited. I then saw the date.

Oh. Wow. (You can't even imagine the droopage. Think wet toilet paper.)

Is there any chance that you've just been hiding these up your skirt and that you haven't turned wildly from this fandom and these stories? I realize that many authors don't appreciate when people nag about updates and such, but it's worth your wrath to ask.

I'm sorry if I've missed a post somewhere about your pieces and their progress.

Please post a status report or email me?

Thanks,

Evelyn (loveisscience@yahoo.com)

Hi, and sorry for taking so long to reply.

To answer your question: I am, in fact, working on them. Furthermore, I am just hammering out a few problems within the novella, and then I’ll start posting. Finally.

I know it was very, very mean of me to post such a tease, but I really do have all intention of finishing and posting both stories. They’ll most likely be up at Adult FanFiction, and probably also FanFiction.Net (at least until the novella becomes NC17). I promisepromisepromise to have the first chapter of the novella, and the PWP, up before the end of the month.

Also, it’s lovely to see someone interested in my writing,--have no shame about asking questions about updates. (I know some authors don’t like to be bothered, but nagging gets me off my arse.)

To address the lack of Neverwhere fic, have you tried Yuletide Treasure? There are lovely, lovely things to be found there. (Much better than I will ever write.)

Hope that helps!

I was going to email you with this, but I wasn't sure what the address was. Sorry if I'm spamming your LJ comments, but I wanted to thank you for replying and sending me to Yuletide. I seem to be on some sort of reply blacklist; no one ever really seems to pay much mind to me, so I was really happy to hear back from you. Thanks again! (Could be because I get off on these hair brained tangents that take forever to sift through when all you want is whatever point I'm trying to get across. Fore-warned is fore-armed!)

It's never mean to post teasers! I love anything I can find on Neverwhere. Even with Yuletide and several search engines, Neverwhere is scant on any fan-works, so I get excited when I come across something other than drabbles. I heart drabbles, but they only seem to whet my appetite.

I'm super glad that you're still working on these stories, and will anxiously wait for you to post them. I promisepromisepromise.

Um, I don't know if this was something that everybody picked up on in the book (Maybe it was explained in the series or something? Shrug.), and I was just dumb and didn't see until a little later, but does Richard find things? Like Door opens things, does Richard find them? Before he and Hunter fought the boar, the marquis drops the small beast statue. When Richard tries to find it, he can't.

'"Keep looking," said the marquis.

'Richard tried to remember how he usually found things. First he let his mind go as blank as he could, then he let his gaze wander over the surface of the marsh, purposelessly, idly. Something glittered on the boggy surface, five feet to his left. It was the Beast statue. "I can see it," called Richard.'

(Three to four pages into chapter sixteen, if you're curious.)

I don't know about you, but I don't find things that way. I scramble around and swear a lot. Threaten the cat to cough up whatever it stole. It just seemed out of place and odd. I was expecting Gaiman to explain why, exactly, Richard did that, but he never touched on it again. Did the series go more in depth with that? Is there some sort of discussion on this somewhere that I could root around in? Was it a given that Richard did this, and I just skimmed over it? Neverwhere went from open ended to leaving a few LOOSE ends, I thought. Not that loose ends aren't great and wonderful - gives fans more material. Or it could just be that I read through it so quickly I didn't catch everything.

Uh. Well. I suppose that's it. I get a little long winded, I know. I just don't have anyone that likes Neverwhere who I can really pour my thoughts out to (On to?). Nobody seems to have read it. Sandman, yes. Other works by Gaiman, no.

I spam, you Jane, and 10 points if you read through that muck.

(Embarrassed.)
